Flames of Immortality

A Knight pushed open the doors to a large chamber, his once shining armor was dented, scratched, with wet and dried blood splattered on it. He pulled off his dented and broken helmet, reveling his short brown hair, tanned skin, and long face. The right side of his face was swollen, his eyes were almost swollen shut, his lips were bloody, and several of his teeth were freshly broken.

The chamber was large, a circular room, nearly a hundred feet wide, made of gray to light-brown stone blocks. Eighteen torches lit the room over eighteen windows ten feet off the ground. At the other end of the room, sat a dragon. The dragon looked at the knight, its irises glowed orange, it had six dark gray-brown spike like horns, its scales were tan-gray and there were face like patterns in its scales.

The knight unsheathed his sword as he walked forward. The dragon stood and stepped towards the knight. It was thirty feel long and stood thirteen feet tall.

“You come for immortality.” The dragon spoke in a deep raspy voice, “I can give this to you but at a terrible price.”

“Beast!” The Knight sneered, “I have fought man, beast, and demon to get here!” he yelled, “Get out of my way or you will join them in hell!”

The Dragon laughed. The Knight ran forward, stabbed the dragon in the throat. Only a small amount of blood flowed from the wound. The Dragon pushed The Knight back. He fell onto his back, still gripping his sword. The dragons blood was dark, thick, and dried quickly on the sword. He got up, attracted the Dragons left leg, slicing to its bone. The wound healed almost instantly around the sword, bleeding little of its thick blood. The Dragon laughed. The Knight pulled his sword out of the Dragon, preparing to attack again. The Dragon pushed him down again, then inhaled deeply, opened its mouth shooting fire at the Knight.

The Knight felt the heat of the fire, felt it burn his skin. He screamed in pain. The Dragon closed its mouth. The Knight was still alive, to his surprise. His wounds were healed, he felt his formerly broken teeth with his tongue, he felt his face, it was completely healed, even his old scares were gone.

The Dragon grabbed the Knights right arm, bending it, breaking the Knights bones. He screamed in pain, dropping his sword. The Dragon let go, the Knight felt his broken bones coming back together. The Dragon grabbed the Knight’s legs, it opened its mouth biting down on the Knights torso. The Knight felt the Dragons teeth pierce his armor. The Dragon lifted the Knight into the air, opened its mouth and swallowed the Knight whole.

The Knight felt the acid of the Dragons stomach burning his skin. Against his own efforts he tried to breath, inhaling the stomach acid. He knew he should be dead, he wandered how he was still alive, if he could talk he would have begged God for death.

“Bathed in the flames of immortality you can not die.” The Dragon told the Knight, “in my stomach your body will devolve, becoming one with mine, and your soul will feed me.”
